ORDINANCE NO. 761
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF GIRARD, COUNTY OF ERIE AND COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA, FIXING THE TAX RATE FOR THE YEAR 2026.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF GIRARD, COUNTY OF ERIE, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA, FIXING THE TAX RATE FOR THE YEAR 2026 AND LEVYING TAXES FOR GENERAL AND SPECIAL PURPOSES PURSUANT TO THE PENNSYLVANIA BOROUGH CODE.
WHEREAS, the Borough Council of the Borough of Girard, under the authority of the Pennsylvania Borough Code, 8 Pa.C.S. § 1302, is empowered to levy taxes upon all real property within the Borough that is subject to taxation for Borough purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Council has determined that it is necessary to establish the tax rates for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2026, in order to provide adequate revenue for the general and special needs of the Borough.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED by the Council of the Borough of Girard, County of Erie, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and it is hereby ordained and enacted as follows:
Section 1. Tax Rate for General Purposes.
A tax is hereby levied for the year 2026 on all real property within the Borough subject to taxation for general Borough purposes at the rate of 2.89 mills on each dollar of assessed valuation, or 28.9 cents per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation.
Section 2. Fire Protection Tax.
A tax is hereby levied for the year 2026 for fire protection purposes, pursuant to 8 Pa.C.S. § 1302(a)(5), at the rate of 1 mill on each dollar of assessed valuation, or 10.0 cents per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation.
